This is a 8 line letter height (aka 1 5/16). The Cap A has Hamilton’s makers identification mark used after 1891, unfortunately I do not know the name of the typeface /style. The type style is very unique and stylish and could be used in many letterpress printing applications. The wo od type font offered is missing both Cap and lowercase K/k. As much as not having the Cap and lowercase K/k is a detriment the font offered has very little use (edges of type are sharp and not rounded from extensive use). Also a plus is that with exception of the letter “K/k” the other letter distribution is excellent (please see listing of letter distribution below). Was founded by J. The company offered wood type and later found that including wood cabinets and associated wood printer’s equipment proved a lucrative and profitable enterprise. The company growth lead to its incorporation on January 1, 1880 at that time it had 200 employees. With the decline of letterpress in the later half of the twentieth century Hamilton saw the decline in wood type sales by 1985 the Fisher Hamilton Co.
