Up for sale is a used font of 48 point Liberty cast by American Type Founders in hard foundry metal. Liberty is ATF series 511 and was drawn by Willard T. I say drawn because he can hardly claim to be the designer as Liberty is a knockoff of the Bauer Foundry’s Bernhard Cursive, by Lucian Bernhard. The main difference is the curly crossbar on the A and H. This type is in good condition. But note that Liberty has a problem with cap letters because of the fine hairlines. When caps are tossed into the case, the fine hairlines are often chipped, and in this font there is a fair bit of that. With Liberty you’ll most often find the lower case is in better condition than the caps. The proof of the type was printed with a light impression on coated paper. This font is: 4A 15a 3-1. This type is cast with hard foundry metal and can be used for hot stamping with care. I will wrap the type in cardboard and string and pack it in a medium flat rate box to make sure it gets to you without any problems. The item “48 pt.
