An original Antique Cast iron Printing Press. This Imperial Printing Press by the Cope, Sherwin & Company is a large and robust piece that would offer an interesting focal point. Complete with beautiful ornate castings the press looks very attractive with the current patina or with some TLC it can be restored back to its former glory depending on aesthetic preference. Cope, Sherwin & Company designed and built the Imperial press in Shoreditch, London, for only a short time. Although the Imperial shares a number of similarities with the Albion, the Imperial is the more powerful press due to its leverage system which is influenced by Stanhope. Cope & Sherwin Imperial Press was claimed to be type William Morris used and favoured. Manufactured around 1840 to 1860 very heavy ornate iron castings.
